Location
Located near downtown Saint Paul, lies Summit Hill. The Summit Hill-Crocus Hill area is located from Summit Avenue to the north, Interstate 35 east to the south and east, and Ayd Mill Road to the west.
This is an affluent neighborhood that showcases many historic homes. Lined with pedestrian-friendly pathways, the real estate in this area features many opportunities for buying and selling homes. The Crocus Hill neighborhood in particular, features some of the most lavish homes.
History
The Cathedral of St. Paul, which was constructed between 1906 and 1915, is located on Summit Avenue. The Governor’s Mansion is another iconic home situated on Summit Avenue. Most of the homes here were constructed before the 1920s, in Colonial Revival, Georgian Revival, Tudor, Row house, Queen Anne, and Italianate styles. In the early 1900s, the Prairie style became quite popular. These homes exude history, charm, and character. It gives buyers a unique opportunity to own a precious piece of American history. Very little construction has occurred on Summit Hill since the 1920s. However, if you are searching for a smaller home, many properties were converted into condo conversions and duplexes.
Neighborhood
Grand Avenue is a popular street in Summit Hill. Running east to west, it is one of the best places to enjoy the nightlife, go shopping, and fine dining. The area started to thrive when the electric streetcar was set up in the area by the Twin City Railway Company. Since then, Grand Avenue has become the prime location for world-famous restaurants like the Red Rabbit, Tavern on Grand, and Suji-Ya.
Today the Summit Hill-Crocus Hill neighborhood boasts many homes, condos, and town homes.
