Selling a house in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota is not a hard task. These are two cities where the real estate is really booming. Still, there are a few things you should consider taking care of before you think about putting your house on the market for sale.

Making the house attractive

The first thing, you should think about updating your home and make it attractive for the buyer(s).  You want your home to stand-out from the other homes in the area. Update your kitchen and bathroom? You may want to take a trip to IKEA, since they have some great ideas for individuals looking to cosmetically update different rooms in their homes on a budget.

Exterior

First impression definitely matters. A potential buyer’s first look at the house is from outside. If needed, you may think about painting the exterior of your home or at least do a touch up. A landscaped yard is appealing to the fussiest real estate buyer. If you have a wooden fence in the backyard that looks dull.  You may want to paint or stain the fence. Repair or replace any broken windows. Replace missing shingles on roof, if any. Make sure that mailbox is in good condition. Keep the lawn free of clutter.

Interior

Clean your house. Scrub the floors, clean rooms and also remove any spider webs in the basement. You would be surprised at how many homes that I have shown with spider webs hanging from the ceilings.  Repaint, or touch up the walls and ceilings with neutral colors. Repair any leaky faucets. Take care of any other plumbing problems. Tighten any loose handrails. Make sure the house smells good. Oil air fresheners really make a home smell great! In the summer time, you may want to keep the windows open so that fresh air fills the whole house. If carpets are dirty, vacuum it and clean it. If the interior carpet is rather dated or worn, you may want to replace it.

If your house is small, then arrange the furniture in such a way as to make the house look spacious. I highly recommend de-cluttering your rooms. You want to make sure there is ample room for individuals to be able walk around and visualize.

A potential buyer in Minneapolis, or Saint Paul would check out the house thoroughly. They can be fussy about even the small things. They are spending good money, so they have a right to. They will not make a deal unless they are absolutely sure that the house is safe, and in good condition.

When a home is warm and inviting, it can attract a real estate buyer. On occasions, I have viewed homes where the sellers wrote letters expressing their family memories and there experiences while living in the home. Some real estate buyers really appreciated what the sellers had written in the letters, since it showed a history of memory and then they pictured living in the home.
